I am an independent petroleum landman, and work out of Roswell, New Mexico. My predominate area of work since 1981 has been southeastern New Mexico, in Chaves, Lea, Eddy and Roosevelt Counties. I have also done numerous jobs in other New Mexico counties, west Texas, North Dakota, and Louisiana.
I have created this website because of a large number of requests I have received in recent years to assist families with the estates of deceased landowners.
Quite simply, there is usually a lot of background work which is more economically performed by a landman. Often, a landman’s rate for the entire day is equivalent to an attorney’s rate for two hours. Roswell is blessed with a number of excellent title attorneys, and the best situation is to have the bulk of the background work performed by a landman with an attorney completing those tasks which rightly belong in their domain.
My normal duties as an independent petroleum landman include working with corporate and private clients to:
1. Perform land ownership research at abstract offices and courthouses;
2. Provide ownership reports covering land (surface), mineral, lease and royalty ownership;
3. Locate missing landowners and negotiate to acquire leases, deeds and surface agreements;
4. Assist attorneys with clearing title to land, and estate or probate matters relative to land title issues.
This website is being constructed for private individuals and families looking for assistance with such matters. Often, if a person is not involved with the oil and gas industry, it’s workings and details are all but hidden and unknown.
